Wise words there from Wordsworth. (Try saying that after a couple of glasses of homebrew.)
We had a double reason to celebrate this weekend: a wedding anniversary as well as the splendid news that Ade’s green-fingers have been officially sanctioned by the Royal Horticultural Society, so on Friday, we headed up to Wordsworth-country for some rural revelry.
Neither of us had been to the Lake District before and we were bowled over by it.
There was glorious countryside to hike across…
A picturesque lake to sail across….
And unexpected visits from the friendly locals…
It was such a treat to escape the city and a real wrench to return this evening. Our hearts sank as we headed back down the M1 towards London. Wordsworth may have once said of our capital city, “Earth hath not anything to show more fair”, but I disagree.
I’d take Windermere over Westminster any day.
Happy anniversary! Such a beautiful place. Sounds like your hearts belong in the country. Also, I just love “Nature Never Did Betray the Heart that Loved Her.” So true, I think.

Thanks Laurie! Yep, we sure love the country! Glad you like the Wordsworth quote, it’s from his “Tintern Abbey” poem.
