It’s the bank holiday weekend and we’ve had out first proper harvest! The rhubarb at the allotment has been looking better than ever, so Ade took the first stems yesterday and I hastened home to stew it with some maple syrup and cinnamon, while it was still warm from the sun.
I love rhubarb and it’s always so reliable: it’s the first crop of the year, it looks good, it tastes good, and, between you and me, it’s the only thing I KNOW I can turn into a fabulous jam without any problems. This year, I’ll be doing my usual failsafe recipes with the rhubarb, but I’ve also got a few experimental ideas up my sleeve which I’m looking forward to trying out.
Happy Bank Holiday Weekend y’all!
